BALLYFEROMOT SPORT CENTRE IN DUBLIN
The hoarding around the building site of the new Ballyferomot Sport Centre in the inner city area of Dublin has been smeared with graffiti from top to bottom. Given the danger of future graffiti attacks on the new sport centre preventive steps were considered. It was finally decided to impregnate all of the concrete walls inside the building with the oil/fat and water repellent impregnation Faceal Oleo HD as a value retention measure and to protect the graffiti exposed lower parts of the walls with the well-know graffiti protection 'PSS 20' made of polysaccharides from plants allowing a solvent-free graffiti removal. In all some 4'000 m2 of concrete surfaces inside the building have been protected and it is intended to proceed in the same way for the outside walls and façades. The work has been executed by the PSS partner for Ireland, Wales and England, namely 'The Ethical Coating Company' with offices in Rathcoole near Dublin and in Epping (England).
